About this deal

Christophe De Pelsemaker’s Logo Books, an online archive of pages from out-of -print publications dedicated to trademarks, is one such resource. From the Greek modifications of the Semitic names of the first two letters, the word alphabet is ultimately derived.

One of those projects is Letters As Symbols, a logo book showing work that is based on one individual letter of the alphabet (from A to Z). Put differently, if we had to fill out a form, if there was an expense in time and postage, would we be more considerate of what we might send in for publication (and archival) for the the future.

Because letters work at the phonemic level and are unencumbered by any extra baggage of sound, they achieve maximum efficiency.

On more occasions the simplest solution is often the most appropriate, and the most powerful in communicating visually the quickest, making it more memorable in the viewers eyes. The black logos featured on the cover from various submissions by designers really sell the books content, and just by looking at the front cover you know exactly what this book is all about! A] linguistic connection between the Anglo-Saxons who settled in the British Isles and other Germanic tribes is their use of the runic alphabet, developed on the continent for scratching short messages onto wood or stone.Brand New®, is a division of UnderConsideration, displaying opinions, and focusing solely, on corporate and brand identity work. Letters As Symbols, launched on Kickstarter, is based on Belgian graphic design pioneer Paul Ibou's collection of an unseen archive of logos designed by the leading designers of the 60s until the 80s. This sits alongside an anthropological text; a musing on the distinctive qualities of the human eye. He adds: "Looking purely at the aesthetics of the featured logos, they are all equal and have the qualities a good logo must have. Like all other books Paul Ibou has published, Letters As Symbols is the result of years of dedication towards the corporate identity design industry and a close relationship with leading designers of his era.
